Key Focus 1: Dignified Future for Vulnerable Population

APECK identified the vulnerable groups in society which included the Boy-child, Widows & Orphans, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Clergy. The focus is to rehabilitate the Boy-child from alcoholism, drug and substance abuse and place him on the productivity grid of this country. These vulnerable groups have great potential to contribute to the nation when equipped with skills and opportunities for work. This will be achieved through programs such as sports, economic ventures like tree planting, enhancing digital literacy and providing skills required in the job market.

The widows and orphans and people with special needs are often bypassed when opportunities are being shared. The Clergy, though playing a very important and central role in our society are ignored as essential service providers. It is time to harness the richness and experience of these key focus groups in order to realize a just and fair society.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world”. James 1:27

Key Focus 2: Revival and Soul Winning

The future church is in the gutter. Obedience to the Great Commission requires the clergy and the church to get out of their comfort zones and reach out to the lost with message of hope. The clergy must break the walls of the church and let in the unreached. The church in Kenya need to birth out and maintain global revival.

Revival will be achieved through lunch programs in the churches, medical camps, setting up tents where the lost can easily access for spiritual support and by ministry of care and compassion. The Church must exercise the ministry of compassion, feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and those in prison, reaching out to all without discrimination and bandaging the wounded. APECK believes that it is time to rise as a nation to fulfil the prophesy that Kenya would become the springboard of Revival.

“See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.” Jeremiah 1:10

Key Focus 3: Empowerment for Productivity

There is great potential in people. The clergy and those being rehabilitated need to contribute greatly to the socio-economic development for themselves, the country and better still to the Kingdom of God. The church should have a greater influence on development of the society and nation. An empowered Clergy would do more for God and for people.

To achieve this, Clergy Sacco and other economic ventures that pull resources together must be initiated. APECK has already registered PECK saving Sacco and Peck Housing Sacco where members can save and invest. The unity of the clergy is critical for its empowerment. Robust programs for training on entrepreneurship and financial management shall be initiated. There shall be scholarships, exchange programs and scouting for support from the friends of the church and those who will support this cause.

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well”. 3 John 1:2

Key Focus 4: Agents of Change

There are many societal challenges threatening to tear down the moral fabric of the nation. The mental health crisis, domestic violence, suicide cases, immorality, alcoholism, and teenage pregnancies are telling signs of a society under threat.

The plan is to have chaplains attached to institutions such as schools, rehabilitation centres, correction facilities (prisons), police stations, health facilities and related areas. The voice of the church should be louder advocating for desired values and against vices that are gaining grounds especially among the youth. The Clergy is untapped potential. The Clergy must influence affairs of the society, without merely acting the victim role.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” Matthew 5:14

Key Focus 5: Moral Conscience of the Nation

The church is the custodian of morality and must pronounce itself on emerging issues that threaten peace, integrity, stewardship, tolerance and cohesion. The church must lead from the front in advocating fairness, equity, justice, and equal access to opportunities. This shall be achieved through strengthening clergy fellowships and encouraging ecumenical cooperation. The voice of the Clergy must be audible and clear.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” Philippians 4:8
